Montparnasse limita con Alésia, Invalides – Ecole Militaire, XV Arrondissement, VI Arrondissement, XIV Arrondissement, Vaugirard, VII Arrondissement y Port-Royal.

Es una zona importante a nivel cultural y también comercial.  Es un barrio muy lindo, bastante tranquilo durante el día y con una vida nocturna muy interesante. Cafés, restaurantes, cines, teatros y algunos centros culturales que se han abierto en el último tiempo como el Grands Voisins.
Otra atracción del barrio es su cementerio. Alli encontramos las tumbas de Simone de Beauvoir junto a Jean Paul Sartre, así como la de Julio Cortazar, entre otros.
Para los que se animen desde este barrio se pueden visitar las Catacumbas de París.



Recorrido por Montparnasse

A. Catacumbas de París

Una manera original de empezar la ruta por Montparnasse es visitando las catacumbas de París.
Lo ideal es comprar las entradas anticipadas, porque sino se pueden demorar bastante en la fila. La visita en si misma tarda unos 45 minutos.

B. Cementerio de Montparnasse

Abierto desde 1824, el cementerio Montparnasse, con su superficie de 19 hectáreas, es después del cementerio del Père Lachaise, es el segundo cementerio parisino más grande.
El cementerio de Montparnasse, uno de los más antiguos de París, fuente de recogimiento y recuerdos de celebridades como Serge Gainsbourg, Jean-Paul Sartre, Simone de Beauvoir o Baudelaire.



C. Torre de Montparnasse

Aunque no es el edificio más bello del mundo y contrasta bastante con la arquitectura de la ciudad, la Torre Montparnasse es uno de los mejores lugares para tener una vista espectacular de París.
En un día despejado se puede ver a una distancia de hasta 40 kilómetros. El mirador se encuentra en el piso 56 y tiene un costo de 15 euros.

D. Centro Cultural Les Grands Voisins

En los callejones  en los edificios de la antigua sala de maternidad abandonada, se ha abierto desde 2015 este interesante proyecto cultural que abarca un montón de diciplinas.
Desde  sala de conciertos, galería de arte, exposiciones, talleres. En la página web ponen la agenda, aunque esta sólo en francés.
Igualmente es interesante recorrer el centro y también comer algo en su  cafetería.

 

Boulevard Montparnasse

Esta calle recorre todo el barrio y es una de las zonas comerciales más importantes. Hay muchas galerías de arte, restaurantes y cafés.  Uno de los más famosos es Le Select.
