La bella región de Reims  se encuentra a unos 150 km de París y es  la población más importante de la región histórica de la Champaña (o Champagne en francés)

Con un total de 4 sitios declarados Patrimonios de la Humanidad por la UNESCO, es una ciudad que no debes de perderte durante tu viaje a Francia.
La ciudad está repleta de cavas productoras del famosos espumoso, muchas de ellas abiertas a visitas guiadas, en una ruta que debe se de lo más interesante. Es conocida por la champagne y la hermosa Catedral de Notre Dame.
Reims ha sidoi inspiración de grandes artistas como Monet y Van Gogh, fascina por su casco antiguo muy bien conservado y una cultura local.



Que ver en Reims

Catedral de Reims

Una catedral impresionante. Sufrió dos incendios y un bombardeo. La entrada es gratuita. En el palacio de al lado se puede contratar un escursion por los torreones que merece mucho la pena ( menores de 26 años de la Unión Europea gratis) la visita es solo en francés.
Construida en el siglo XIII, la catedral de Reims también llamada “Nuestra Señora de Reims” (o “Cathédrale Notre-Dame de Reims” en francés) es una obra maestra de la arquitectura gótica. Construida sobre las ruinas de la antigua catedral que fue devastada por un incendio en torno al año 1210, representa la quintaesencia del saber hacer de los artesanos de la época.
Más grande que Nuestra Señora de París (“Notre-Dame de Paris”), ha albergado la coronación de 25 reyes de Francia desde su creación y actualmente es Patrimonio de la Humanidad de la UNESCO.

El Palacio de Tau

El palacio de Tau, situado justo al lado de la catedral y declarado Patrimonio de la Humanidad por la UNESCO, fue la residencia de los arzobispos de Reims.
Muy interesante. Cuenta con una colección de tapices impresionantes. También hay mucho relicarios.
Es el lugar donde se celebro muchas coronaciones y el banquete de muchos reyes. También hay varios objetos de Caros X rey de Francia y de Navarra que fue el último rey Borbón de francia

Basílica Saint-Remi de Reims

Su nombre es el del santo obispo que bautizó a Clodoveo a finales del siglo V, confirmándose en este acto la entrada del cristianismo en Francia.
Constituiría el edificio románico mas grande del norte del país, aunque en 1162 comienzan las obras de reconstrucción de la fachada occidental y la cabecera en estilo románico primitivo.
Restaurada después de la primera guerra mundial por los daños sufridos durante la misma. Fue convertida en basílica en el siglo XIX.

Museo de Historia y Arqueología

El Museo de Historia y Arqueología de Reims está instalado en la antigua abadía real benedictina de Saint Remi, designada Patrimonio Mundial de la UNESCO. La sección galo-romana está instalada en el antiguo refectorio y las cocinas.
Podemos contemplar esculturas, mosaicos y, principalmente, la tumba de Jovis, extraordinario sarcófago de marmol perteneciente a Flavius Jovinus, general de las legiones romanas en la Galia durante el reinado de Valentinano (364-375 d.C.).
A 4 euros por persona durante unas 2 horas de visita, es una gran visita si te interesa la historia de Reims.

Puerta de Marte

La Puerta de Marte es el único arco superviviente de entre los que formaban parte de la muralla que rodeaba a la ciudad romana de Durocortorum, la actual ciudad francesa de Reims.

Museo Hotel Le Vergeur

El Museo Hotel Le Vergeur (musée hôtel Le Vergeur) está situado en una mansión construida en el siglo XV y catalogado como monumento histórico. Fue el hogar del coleccionista y patrón Hugues Krafft a principios del siglo XX.
Dejado intacto desde su muerte en 1935, es hoy un museo que puede visitarse con guía. Más información en su web http://www.museelevergeur.com/

Museo Automovilístico Reims Champagne

El Museo del Automóvil de Reims-Champaña alberga la importante colección del diseñador industrial Philippe Charbonneaux (1917-1998). Fue una eminencia del mundo del automóvil francés y el autor del Renault R16, entre otros diseños.
El Museo del Automóvil de Reims Champagne cuenta con una colección de más de 230 vehículos desde 1908 hasta la actualidad. Motocicletas y coches, desde el taxi Marne hasta el coche de carreras.

Basílica de Santa Clotilde de Reims

La basílica muy bonita y atípica por fuera. Aunque en la página web dicen que está abierto todos los días, cuando llegas allí está cerrado y se puede ver en un cartel sobre la puerta que sólo abre los domingos.

Cryptoporticus galo-romano

Bajo el foro de Reims y el actual “place du Forum de Reims”, se encuentra una de las 3 galerías que formaron el criptoportico galorromano (“Cryptoportique gallo-romain”).
Antiguamente se utilizaba para el almacenamiento de cereales, ahora se puede visitar y alberga exposiciones temporales.

Planetario Reims

El componente clave del extenso equipo técnico del Planetario es un proyector muy avanzado, que utiliza datos científicos precisos para reproditar las estrellas en una pantalla en forma de cúpula.
Además de las 6.000 estrellas visibles a simple vista, también se pueden observar los movimientos específicos de Mercurio, Venus, Marte, Júpiter, Saturno, el Sol y la Luna. La alta calidad de la proyección brinda una vista realista del cielo nocturno tal como aparece en condiciones ideales de observación.

Museo de la Rendición

Un museo sobre una parte olvidada de la historia. Si la fecha del 8 de mayo de 1945 es para todos el fin oficial de la Segunda Guerra Mundial, la rendición alemana fue firmada en Reims el 7 de mayo de 1945. Si te interesa la historia, te recomiendo una visita al museo, que es gratuita con el Reims City Pass.

Alberga algunas obras de arte. Además, la visita es gratuita con el Reims City Pass.

Plaza Drouet d’ Erlon

Está llena de tiendas y cafés, lo que la convierte en el centro de la vida social de Reims.

Casa de la Ópera de Reims

Situada cerca de la Catedral de Notre Dame y considerada una de las más bellas de Francia. Desafortunadamente, sólo está abierto el Día del Patrimonio, pero puedes asistir a una función.




Tours en Reims y Champagne

Una buena opción para ahorrar tiempo y a veces dinero es hacer alguno de los tours que ofrecen las agencias especializadas.

Dónde comer en Reims

L’ Alambic

Situado muy cerca del “Jardín de la Patte d’ Oie”. Este restaurantefunciona en una antigua bodega de champángne para disfrutar de platos llenos de productos frescos.
La mejor opción es probar alguno de los menús de degustación.

El Café du Palais

Situado a 2 pasos de la catedral de Reims, en el centro de la ciudad. Este maravilloso café que tiene tanta historia como su comida tiene sabor.
Uno de los mejores lugares para disfrutar de la gastronomía en Reims. El personal es amable, acogedor y conoce bien la historia del arte que recubre las paredes.

Le Wine Bar by Le Vintage

El mejor sitio para tomar vino en Reims. La botella para llevar, te la venden a precio del almacén.
Buena atencion y una carta de vinos alucinante.

Como llegar a Reims desde París

Coche

Desde París, son unos 140 km y 1 hora 45 minutos de trayecto (en este caso por la autopista A4).

Tren

El TGV, el tren de alta velocidad francés, enlaza París con Reims en trayecto a partir de 45 minutos y desde 15€ si lo reservas con tiempo.

Bus

La compañía de autobuses Eurolines también opera el trayecto París-Reims. El viaje dura dos horas, puedes comprar un billete barato por 9€.
